Ocozocoauatla is a key site in western Chiapas; excavations at Mound 1 uncovered a massive platform holding four distinct building complexes surrounding a patio dating to the Classic period. The formality, numerous rooms, and notable use of columns suggest a palace and/or temple function. Also included are two appendices presenting Matthew W. Stirling’s work at the nearby site of Piedra Parada.
