Excavations at La Libertad


A Middle Formative Ceremonial Center in Chiapas, Mexico Number 64

Excavated as part of the Upper Grijalva River Basin regional project, La Libertad was a key Middle Formative site of southern Mesoamerica, known for its elite burials and connections with Chiapa de Corzo and La Venta. The site later became a Late Classic-Postclassic burial shrine.
